A quick look at some of the artwork from MEV. The designs began as pen drawings, which were scanned and re-drawn in Photoshop, before adding texture layers made using the initial penwork. The final designs are then chopped up into pieces, only to be jointed back together in Spriter, where they are animated. Finally these animations are imported into the game making software. This rather lengthy process leaves a fair bit of room for mistakes or happy accidents, so it's always a surprise to see how things come out.
