Nearly finished making these devil horns for Dance Wi' The Deil. The horns are hollow plastic, detailed with string and covered in tissue paper mache, decorated with opalescent acrylic paint. A pair of mini speakers fit inside the bases of the horns, and the row of holes along the front of the horns allow the sound to come through. The devil costume also has this articulated tail, which swishes naturally as the performer moves, and can be flicked around easily with small movements of the hips. The tail is made from sections of balsa wood, jointed with fabric hinges, covered with shiny lycra and detailed with painted plastazote shapes. It is mounted to a belt using the base of an old CD holder. The belt fastens slightly above the hips of the performer, and the costume hangs over the belt to hide it. Dance Wi' The Deil will be happening next Saturday, 29th October, as part of Greenock's halloween festival Galoshans. Come along and say hello.
